About The Course
The Management Consulting Bootcamp program is a three week intensive course that introduces participants to the consulting industry, the recruiting and hiring processes, and provides “hands-on” training to the analytical skills required in management consulting. The class meets five times over a three week period. Each class is three hours long, for a total of 15 hours of classroom time. All classes are conveniently held in Manhattan within walking distance of public transportation.

The course is designed to be a practical introduction to management consulting. You will learn how things are really done in consulting, and not just the theory that is taught in school.

The course begins with a discussion of the management consulting industry and then continues by helping you build your consulting toolkit. We will discuss in detail the types of work-products consultants deliver, and provide you with templates that will help you hit the ground running. We talk about how to conduct research, where to find data, and how to summarize your findings. A session will be spent on sharpening your financial skills including reading financial statements, developing a “comp model” to compare and assess key ratios from multiple companies, and build a Discounted Cash Flow model. Excel models will be provided that you can take with you and use in your career. We will discuss how a typical consulting project is staffed and managed and provide you with the tools and best practices to run engagements. We will discuss in detail how to develop a business case, including defining the value proposition, quantifying hard and soft benefits, establishing a timeline, and packaging your business case to clients. We will discuss how to create effective presentations and how to improve your written and oral presentations.

Finally, we recognize that the majority of our students are focused on acquiring jobs, so we devote a full session to recruiting, interviewing techniques, resume format and review, and other job search topics. Throughout this course we place particular attention on how we can aid you in your job search.
